Quayola Arborescent

FEBRUARY 1-2, 2025, CASA BATLLÓ, BARCELONA

Arborescent transforms the façade of Casa Batlló into a living and vibrant botanical landscape. Drawing inspiration from the organic shapes of Gaudí’s design, Quayola uses digital simulations to create a fascinating display of plant forms.

The piece evolves organically, with tree branches growing and moving across the building's surface, reflecting the dynamic beauty of the natural world. The simulation of botanical structures interacts with the architectural features of the building, highlighting the hidden geometry of nature.

Accompanied by a custom soundtrack composed by Quayola himself, blending traditional instrumental elements with algorithmic composition, "Arborescent" envelops the viewer in an immersive visual and sound experience.

The ethereal transformation of Casa Batlló that the piece creates explores the intersection of nature, technology, and artistic expression, inviting reflection on the relationship between tradition and innovation.

"Arborescent" was projected onto Casa Batlló in February 2025, gathering over 110,000 people.

—Immersing myself in Gaudí's work has reaffirmed the infinite power of nature as an inexhaustible source of artistic inspiration.

Quayola
Exploring the balance between opposing forces

Quayola (born in 1982 in Rome, Italy) is an artist who blends technology with classical aesthetics to create immersive installations and digital compositions. His work explores the tensions between the real and the artificial, the figurative and the abstract, the old and the new.

Through the use of cutting-edge technology, Quayola reinterprets historical images, transforming them into contemporary art driven by algorithms. His work is deeply rooted in nature, exploring the organic forms that have inspired artists and architects throughout history.

By merging traditional motifs with modern technology, Quayola creates innovative works that reflect on the complexities of our relationship with nature, history, and the digital age. His art invites us to reflect on how technology can transform our understanding of the world around us.
